Allergy Support & Nutrislice
Do you have an allergy or dietary restriction? There are lots of ways you can support yourself while dining on campus! Some great places to start are:
1. Plan ahead with Nutrislice
This (free) digital menu lets you search for allergen and ingredient information before arriving at Pritchard Dining Hall. Learn more about Nutrislice below.
2. Look for Allergen Labels
We use allergen-aware icons on many of our packaged foods — as well as print and digital menus — to make it easier to navigate your food choices.
3. Ask Before You Eat
Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself! If you're not sure what's in a menu item, or you're looking for a suitable option for your dietary needs, ask a staff member to connect you with a chef or our dietitian!
4. Connect with our Dietitian
Our dietitian can help you navigate your allergies or dietary restrictions while eating at our locations, and learn new strategies to eating well.
NUTRISLICE
Ingredients for foods served at Pritchard Dining hall are listed on the Nutrislice app. This free mobile platform provides menu icons and ingredient lists to help diners identify allergens and ensure they are choosing items that suit their needs. If you require more support, reach out to our registered dietitian, who will be happy to help!Â
How it works
You will be shown today’s date as a default. If you would like to plan ahead, tap the current date:Â
… then choose a date in the future to see upcoming menu offerings:
If you select a particular allergen, menu items containing that allergen will be crossed out.Â
If you select a particular dietary preference, menu items that meet that criteria will be highlighted.
Nutrition FAQs
We take food safety and food allergies seriously, and while we do not have an allergen-free facility and cannot guarantee a completely allergy-free environment, we take steps to minimize risk of exposure. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please check Nutrislice (if you are dining at Pritchard), or speak with a chef or our dietitian before ordering.
If you are at Pritchard, start by checking Nutrislice where you will find menu items, ingredients and allergens. If you can’t find the information you are looking for, ask a staff member to connect you with one of the chefs or our registered dietitian.
At UBCO Food Services, we take an intuitive eating approach to nutrition, and support students in nourishing their bodies and minds while encouraging a positive relationship with food. Learn more about why we don’t post calorie information on our menus here.Â
Pritchard FAQs
Answer coming soon!Â
Most of our locations have a made-without-gluten alternative available to diners, including stations at Pritchard. Some of these options include made without gluten pasta and pizza crust, sandwiches, muffins and desserts. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please ask, as some items are kept in a separate location to avoid cross-contamination.
All stations at Pritchard have a vegetarian option. You can expect to find vegetarian pizzas, pastas, and grill items. We also have a well stocked salad bar and a station dedicated to vegetarian items (Plantopia).
We pay close attention to the top allergens, and offer a range of options that take into account the needs and preferences of a wide variety of diners.
Made-without-gluten and plant-based options are available at every station, and all unprocessed chicken is halal.
Diners can utilize Nutrislice while at Pritchard to learn more about the ingredients found in each meal, or reach out to our dietitian.
